When I scan or copy through the adf in black or color, i get white or colored light lines.

most probably the optics are dirty most common cause. unless you get the white lines during printing then we're talking about a whole different ballgame.

run print tests in service mode to see if the lines show up in any one color from internal prints. If so most likely a drum unit defect which can probably be fixed by cleaning but I would just replace it to avoid call backs...if it doesn't show on internal tests then it will be optical and should be remedied with a thorough cleaning. -Cope
