Just wondering if other dealers are charging shipping cost to there customers when they order supplies, either on full m/a or billable customer. Shipping costs are going through the roof and we are thinking of charging a flat rate shipping fee.

Thanks

We charge most of our customers under service a shipping charge for supplies. Enough to cover the UPS plus a couple dollars. We try to ship a couple toners each order. We charge travel fee for most deliveres. Since we send an extra toner from the start. We have been doing this for a long time due to increases in UPS, hard to adjust contracts during the year. Some customer complain but we look at each one and make judgements calls.

If it's billable we of course charge shipping, if its a MA we do not. UPS in the NW runs about $5-$6 to anywhere within 80 miles ... not too bad if you ask me.

We currently don't charge for shipping on MA's. We use a courier service for most stuff - he's very reasonable and fast. In about the last 9 months all new contracts and renewals have a clause to allow us to charge s/h or delivery fee but have not yet exercised this.
I asked another dealer a couple of years ago about this - they are in a larger metropolitan area. They had a flat fee per piece to ship by USPS. He also said that if someone had a toner 'emergency' fees started at $30 for same day delivery. I think they had something like a $5 or $10 per mile fee - ouch!

Relax? When?!
