we are in the process of updating our maintenance contract, trying to incorporate service issues related to scanning, networking, addition of and setup of new users... Also we want to adress economic issues like gasoline, inflation, etc....Can you share Maintenace forms or clauses or wording or ideas on this matter...?

We updated ours a couple of years ago to specifically exclude deliver, shipping and handling, and fuel surcharges.
Several of our customers got ticked off when we started charging for delivery (they could still pick up for free) and we found the only way to do it was to charge for each toner - otherwise they wanted us to send them a 10 year supply of toner so they only had to pay the fee once. We had never charged a fuel surcharge, but had the provision there in case of what we are seeing now. However; we have never charged for it and after losing a couple of customers over delivery fees, we don't charge for that anymore either (unless they aren't on a contract). Realistically for the contract to be binding it probably has to be completely spelled out with prices for fuel surcharges and delivery - we just decided we were better of adjusting the contract prices instead and just including everything. Seems to keep the customers happier and the contracts simple. Relax? When?! |
