For about 9 months I took care of about 385 machines in 6 counties. That SUCKED.

I'm almost exclusively IT now (unless somebody else is on vacation or can't figure something out).

The other techs cover about 225 each.

Also curious: What is your response time? Using the Falcon series as a reference point, what is your average number of calls per machine? Copies between calls?

80% of our machines are Kyocera, 5 or less years old. Our response time is less than 4hrs. We are realigning our tertories. That is the reason for starting this discussion.

To answer Scott's question; back in the analog days the numbers were much lower at times it was 100 to 200 machines per tech, and that was if you had GOOD techs. Not that digital techs are no good, just a different type of good, and not everyone was able to make the transition from analog to digital.

Rob is very much correct - fewer machines per tech when we were analog.

Our dealership services south central PA. We have machines in 6 counties.
We have about 350 machines per tech. 90% of our machines are Kyocera. (We recently became HP certified.)
Our response time is less than 4 hrs, and within 2 hrs for a down machine.
