I'd like to see what others are doing as well for this. I do a couple of IT contracts - but these are regular IT contracts.

It would be great to have an 'Extension' to our existing maintenance agreements that would cover print driver installation and issues. Also, another for scanner issues.

It would probably have to be limited to time and a reduced rate for time exceeded. If this could be added for a small amount there might be a good return on it, since many places wouldn't need follow ups very frequently. Perhaps something like $9 a month for up to one call/hour a month for driver installation and configuration would be an easy sell?

My regular IT contracts are for a block of time with reduced rate for time exceeded. However; I find that these really don't give me much advantage - those that have them always exceed the block usage each month, so I've really just given myself a pay cut.

We provide what we call our Platinum Preferred Print option for all of our connected equipment contracts. This is a must buy or client must initial that they declined and they know that our regular time and materials IT rates will apply to all connectivity calls. The way we sell it is they get 2 "incidents" (upgrading to 3 now that we are using a remote access tool) for a flat rate of $249 per year. Incident can be any printing issue or scanning issue (or network fax if so equipped). Incidents are not time limited, so if it takes us 15 minutes to resolve we win, if it takes 2 hours to resolve we lose, but we usually can solve in reasonable time. The way we describe it to the client is that we set the machine up to work at install and if they make changes to the network, change computers or software then an Incident is created to deal with these changes. We strongly sell to new clients for year one at least.

We sell it to about 40% of our installs and that covers our IT costs off pretty well. On new installs we tell people we will connect up to 5 devices...some limits on scanning depending upon the network.

It is not a perfect solution, but it at least has our sales force having the discussion with the client at the time of sale not when the problem occurs.

Thanks Lep for the insight. We have been looking for a way to recoup some of our network expenses and your contract sounds perfect. Is there anyway you would share your program with me?

Thanks

We try and sell the IT contract at time of install. We sell five and ten hour blocks of pre-paid time. 5hrs-$575 and 10hrs-$975. Decent savings on our normal IT rate of $150/hr.

OK...All you guys. If I can figure out how to upload the file to the site I will try to post it in PDF format (it's a publisher file and versions matter with that crazy format). Let me see if I can figure out the upload capability and everyone can take a look.

Its Art Post of the RFG P4P, I can help all of you out with hosting the file, and then we can send the links to everyone who needs them. Seems this board does not allow for uploading of files, strange since I run the RFG P4P on eve also and I can do it.

Regards
