This is an exact copy of a bulletin released in the UK.....

"There have been reports of machine lockups and error codes occuring on these machines. The Operation panel freezes and the machine throws up different error codes. The only way to recover is to switch off/on. If trying to update firmware the machine does not recognise USB and memory sticks."

"The panel code firmware DIMM and/or main code firmware DIMM is making poor contact. The panel DIMM sits underneath the operation panel on the front and the main DIMM is on the main controller PCB at the back. This can be caused by heavy 'shock' during use or transport."

"It is highly recommnded to perform the following...
1. Remove both DIMM and blow air into contacts.
2. Clean the DIMM contacts with dry cloth or alcohol and re seat
3. Update or reload firmware again.
4. Format the HDD"

That was the whole bulletin - it may help you.
I wonder if users are banging the displays hard coz the response is so bad???!!!
What do ya reckon?
Regards,
Mark

I learned the hard way that running scandisk on a 3050 does not take all night I started running it and waited and waited for a couple of hours, then waited some more, then called kyocera and they said they did not know how long it takes, so I left it running all night. The message was still there the next morning. Had the customer reboot the machine and it started fine.

According to KyocerPro his tech rep said let it run for a minute or so, but agree with him it should probably be longer, but not hours.

We were told today that Japan says not to use the USB flash drive to update the firmware. To unstable. A CF must be used instead. This came through the hotline.
We have had several machines blue screen after updates even with the new thicker DIMMs.
The good news is that the CF seems to work even when the USB drive does not.

I loaded the new ( 2.04A ) firmware yesterday . Immediately after loading the firmware I had a Cf7d7 error code. ...The FIX , I performed sim 20. After sim 20 the print and internal reports did not work. I then performed sim 22 . After that print and reports all worked. After performing all these you must match the maintenance report exactly like another ...

I LIKE MY WAY.

Hello Everyone,

Just a few thoughts.....

We experienced all manner of problems whilst setting up Falcon 3 series machines from new.

Our current setup procedure is to Format the Hard Disk on every machine prior to upgrading Firmware (New Units Only).

After F/W upgrade make sure to check OEM code in sim 265 as this,if set incorrectly, can cause errors when using utilities such as KM-Net
reporting that model is not supported.

We use SilverPearl MicroX USB sticks for upgrades.

Since doing the above had no problems!

Best Regards

Interesting, had one with a cf46f code I beleive which according to kyo was an hdd failure code. Formatted hdd and reloaded current firmware version. So far so good. How did you arrive to include this in your setup procedure?

Account codes will not work when installing on vista. The vista driver works but just the job accounting screen freezes up. There is a new driver for vista through thier ftp site but that is not for the 3050, 4050, and 5050. The vista driver to correct account codes is currently in the development stage now and will be out soon, according to kyocera today. It was fun finding this out.

Sorry for delay replying...

We suspect that Hard Disks are supplied to KM pre-formatted, so after seeing a lot of "F" codes on these units and other unusual problems we decided format the Hard Disk on the machine it was fitted to.

Since adopting this in our "setup" we have not seen these problems...been over 3 months now without an "F" code fault etc, etc.

Hope this makes sense...and will report if situation changes.

Regards,
Dave (U.K)

tech, your're absolutely right, i ran into that problem the other day on a vista machine, luckily the customer was OK with having the Vista machine not use account codes.

Anyone try the latest (July 19,07) version of the firmware yet? KMA Connect bulletin says we were supposed to have received a new stick with the firmware preloaded but we haven't seen one. We did get a stick in the Spring with the first upgrade.
Also wondering about the panel trouble reported in this thread. Wondering if the latest version is worth the risk of loading it. Ya know,...if it ain't broke, don't fix it?
Maybe the USB firmware port issue has been resolved? Just curious.

We just updated 2 new CS-5050s with the latest firmware. It really speeds up the response time. Well worth it to do this one.

Just updated a couple KM3050's and MAN!, this firmware version rocks.
Virtually no more delay between key presses.
Good work Kyocera guys.

Falcon III with PF-750 jams (Jam 22?)

Vertical Transport switch must be shimmed out (a thin piece of cardboard works fine)
Machine will not jam from internal cassettes - just with PF-750.
The switch that must be shimmed is the easy one to get at (don't have to pull anything off - just open the door).

Relax? When?!

Sco, Don't have to use cardboard. Check out tech bulletin #9. You can order shims, cost is $1.
