Hey if anyone is tried to get a event log out of the 4020 you are going to be surprised not able, at least not the old way. Here is how you have to do it.
Open up wordpad, type !R! KCFG"ELOG"; EXIT; save the doc (ex. event.txt) Open IC Link go to tools, send a file, ex. event.txt send to printer, pick 4020 That is the only way that I have found to get the event log out of the printer. It only does it once. Anyone know how to set it in the printer like the old 4000 remember !R! FRPO I1,01; EXIT; Doedee316 |

The only other way I have found is to send the following PRESCRIBE command sequence from the PC to the printer.
(this is the same command as yours) !R!KCFG"ELOG";EXIT; Here's the difference; To send a PRESCRIBE command sequence to the printer, use COMMAND CENTER (the printer's embedded web) while the printer is connected to the PC via its network interface. You don't need IC Link loaded and you can get to it from any computer connected to their network. Gene Y Proximity to stupidity is exhausting! |

there is not a place in Command Center to put that. it is a typo in the service manual.

My bad. I was having a flashback to when things actually worked. I use a utility called lpr.jar (a java executable from http://gccprinters.com/support/doc/lprutil.html) to send files to printers. It will run from a thumb drive and you can check the status of a printer with it or send a file to it. To send a prescribe command create a text file containing only the command(s) you want and save it as *.prn (example; stat.prn contains the line !R!STAT;EXIT; and prints a single sheet status page.) You can save a collection of *.prn files you use often on the thumb drive with the program.

dear all
the easyest way to send a prescribe command to your printer/mfp is via your internet explorer : 1. create a text file containing the command and save it as *.prn (or *.txt) 2. open internet explorer type ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (printer ip address) you will see 4 folders: lp1, lp2, lp3, lp4 3. copy the txt file into the lp1 folder that's it Alessandro Zehnder Regional Account Manager Kyocera Europe B.V. You could also just use the Kyocera printer utility 2.0?
no install... 2 clicks, type your command or select your pre made text file and click again to send the command or the file. |

We still use the old regular BANG R BANG commands. All you need is a parallel port . Just open command prompt ; type the command referenced to LPT1
( ECHO !R! ELOG; EXIT;>lpt1 ) Works every time . |
