Anybody else have customers who are using Magnum Digital brand paper in their copiers. This paper is made from eucalyptus trees, my experience with it when I worked on Konica Minolta copiers wasn't very good. We have recently seen quite a few of our customer using it now because they got a "Great Deal" on it. Last customer I was at that was using it I had to make some setting changes along with the routine cleaning the optics and other areas of the copier. It seems that the transfer charge setting needs changed to get full transfer of the image onto the paper. Not sure why, maybe its the because of the eucalyptus fibers, I'm not a paper expert but I now how paper can be the problem sometimes.
I didn't reply because I thought you were joking... eucalyptus???? in paper???? Curious... does it smell like a sauna when they run large print jobs?
Serious note, if you've demonstrated that the paper is causing a problem (i.e. necessary to adjust transfer charges, fuser temp, etc...) then you're work is almost done. Just explain that it's technically not supported by the manufacturer and therefore you cannot support it either. Explaining that must be done tactfully of course. You can't just say "Garbage in - Garbage out and the Garbage can damage the delicate piece of machinery you just purchased from us and it won't covered under warranty or Service Contract." Tactfully explain your reasoning behind it. They already told on themselves by saying that they're using it because they got a "Great Deal" on it. They kinda already know the paper is junk, they won't like you rubbing it in. There's a reason paper is sold for "Great Deals": THE SELLER KNOWS IT CAUSES PROBLEMS. It's like my buddy that's trying to sell his BMW... somebody's gonna get a great deal, cause he'll sell it cheap... But why is he willing to part with it so cheap you ask??? It's killing him every time he needs to get it serviced. To answer your question literally: NO I don't have any customers running that.
I recommend getting your service manager involved at this point and explaining the situation. He may admire you attempting to avoid costly repairs and give you a raise! Doubt it though, but it is in your company's best interest to get your customers to stop running "out of spec" paper or paper that is not recommended. Unless you're a competitor of mine in my territory... then I say I love stuff, you should have all your customers running it!
