1820 Slow Printing / Processing Several slow printing issues have been solved on this model by opening the host buffer beyond the factory default of 500KB. The command center web interface for this model does not allow the buffer settings to be altered from the web page. The buffer settings must be changed with a DOS EDITOR and a parallel interface. First you must load and default a generic text printer. Next from within the dos editor ( CLICK START->SELECT RUN->TYPE EDIT->CLICK OK) the parameter settings are to be defined and then sent to the MFP as a print request. A example of the command string follows: !R! FRPO H8,10; FRPO S5,2; EXIT; This example would change the default host buffer from 500KB to 10MB. You can verify the changes by printing the service status pages. I have had great success with solving slow printing issues at BJU simply by increasing the default buffer memory allocations. You do not need to add RAM since from the factory there is 96MB. Not all of this is user available so use descretion in expanding the buffer beyond 101MB. Not all the NIC's Command Center web interface require this procedure, some will let you set the interface independent parameters from within the web page. This message has been edited. How to change machine model number from FS-1118 or FS-1116 after a firmware update? To change the model number to KM-1820 from FS-1116 or FS-1118, use the following prescribe command via a parallel cable. The command is sent through the DOS prompt. There are 2 commands to send: ECHO !R! KCFG "AREA",2; EXIT; >LPT1 (This will set it to USA market.) ECHO !R! KCFG "PRDT",2; EXIT; >LPT1 (This will set the Manufacturer 2 for KMA , 17 for Copystar) | |||

How to stop papers from falling onto the floor? Remove the exit guide rollers from the rear cover. Part numbers are 5MVM273DB005 Pulley Exit and 5MMX332LD021 Bkt Pulley Fd. I wish I had figured this out 5 years ago... EDIT: Well, this didn't work well at all. It worked perfectly on an 1820 with 30k in the office for 150 sheets, but I've had some problems out in the field. I don't know if it's humidity, different paper, more wear on the exit plate, or black magic, but some machines will start J40ing all day without the guide rollers. This message has been edited.
