What does everyone think about these?

We have placed 6 in the field so far with minor problems to overcome. We have had to go back in all cases to max out the memory, and we have had 1 with a bad LED Array.

Just interested in what other folks are seeing. Confused1

One thing that many will forget is that when printing a color image it will take lots of memory.

Also that is the best way to add value to your sale. Instead of discounting the 5016 (or any other printer for that matter) remember that our dear friends at HP charge $700 or more for 65 to 128 MB of memory.

Why not point that out to your customer and then include either 256MB of memory or the full 512MB to add to the value.

You can tell tham that they would be saving a bundle and getting unit to work much better and at the same time eliminate a problem of getting them to buy the memory later.

All of these benefits for about $125 cost, plus, your their hero.

Toner Dog,

What are the symptoms you are getting? We have 9 in the field and have set up 12 so far and haven’t seen any problems outside of a font issue with an accounting package.

Thanks, Greg

at first I agree they are great than after they get some prints on them
start looking at the internal test pattern the
the drums have heavy rotation lines 10k or so
and start to show up on the prints
the LEDs will make lines lead to trail
be care of all the plastic clips every where they break

Kyodan, I wonder if you think you are telling us something we do not already know. Machines and software and operating systems are changing rapidly these days, I've had issues with MACs that KM is just now addressing. Sounds like your saying techs are not rocket scientists, I'm not. I'm just trying to keep with all the firmware releases, driver updates, network utilities updates etc, for instance the new Software Library Ver 7.2 was released approx a month after 7.1, I just downloaded it and made copies and blam, gotta do it again. I've worked on HP's and Canon for many years, how exactly is KM kicking HP's ass? Not price. Almost every office I go to service something has a bunch of HP's everywhere, I got three at home. If you get time read all the post's in the tech forums, takes time but it is worth it. Puts things in perspective.

What? how can you say KM doesn't beat HP at price? have you compared toner and operating cost on the two? sure the printer costs a little more but if you actually want to use them for printing then KM is hands down less expensive. People have HP's in their office because you can buy them everywhere and they dont take the time to check out what they cost to operate, they don't look past the initial purchase price. Hp is the printer version of AOL, people use it because of marketing and they dont care about performance or cost.

just my opinion but i would rather have company that actually tries to fix problems buy releasing new drivers than one that wont admit that they have problems.

In short Dan is right on the money.
If mita has a problem it is with their lack of presales support in the midwest, when are we going to get someone that knows what they are doing? Ha Ha JK Wink

OK, I'll bite what are the comparisons in print costs between the two? Two what? Why do you think KM released the 5016? So they could compete. The KM is hands down less expensive? Blanket statement or fact? HP's are available everywhere? Is that a bad thing? Won't admit they have problems? www.hp.com their web site is accessable to the end user and techs with FAQ's, updated drivers, and if you have a serial number, Email support. This is not a dig but are you a HP tech? HP's are no different to service than any other model. Easier than most. Yes KYODAN is right on the money, his web site for prescribe is not available any more. Must be a new sales technique.

Anyone read the latest technical release on this "Ass Kickin" printer? They need to go back to the drawing board. I remember talking to tech support some months ago about some of the very problems addressed in this release and being assured that there were no widespread problems with this printer. But night after night I would read about the problems on this site. Maybe they're reading this post right now!! Oh noo!!

I think you will find that adjusting your printer through the driver for different paper will correct alot of the gritty and toner dropping problems..

Kyodan, I promise my latest post is not meant for you personnaly. A lot of us have suffered out in the field with the 5016 and Mita's denial of the problems. I have visited your web site and you can believe the next time we install some 9100's that need some prescribe you will hear from me. Prescribe is extremely complex and for a small company without a dedicated prescribe person your services will be appreciated.

Damn, I just reread your post and did not see that you called me a prick. After some consideration I would not call you for any business. Good luck to you.

OK you win, you have amazed your friend[s], your wisdom knows no bounds, just ask you, right? I knew when I saw you reposting here that you would be advertising for your prescribe career. After reading most of your posts all one can really do is wish you luck because you really are a loser. It's just obvious. Might want to contact hollywood about your amazing life story, too.

"can you say "nervous hospital"?

I am sure both of you are pricks at one time or another
So lets get back to the subject at hand
The FS-c5016 is Junk!! and Kyocera japan is slow
to respond to the issues!
Firmware only is not the answer to all the problems! I hope they remake the DV and Drum units
Or scrap the thing and come out with a 6016 or something

ok, so now the scrap is over...Yes , when new the printers had huge issues with copy quality. Yes,the firmware come out faster than you can say, "i have installed the latest firmware"
Point firmware 130.06 or now 130.09 fixes the issues!! If you still have a problem, i is probably due to low color toner coverage(this can be seen on service self status page. If the end user is running very low color toner, he, she you or the dog mat have to do a drum refresh to recover it. THIS WORKS. I had huge issues with this , the sales reps hated them. Now, they love em and it is a big deal for them cause they sell an mfp including the color as a bonus!!! TRY this..it may work for you too.....
