Yeah, I know...
But we still get a lot of typewriters for repairs and I'm needing to find a supplier for the keysheet under a Smith Corona junk typewriter's keyboard. Anybody know of a source for these? Thanks! Foos |

Depends on the model of SCM typrewriter. Problem with most of these portables is you can replace the typewriter with a new machines for just about the cost of the keysheet.
We finally gave up on looking for parts for the SCM portables. The company went bankrupt a few years ago. So there is no one manufacturing new parts for these machines. Office Depot is selling the Word Smith machines for less than a 100 bucks. If you are really set on finding parts then haunt the Goodwill stores and buy all the junkers they have for parts. Good luck |

Thanks for the reply JMD.
I'm not too worried about getting this taken care of. Mainly for the reason you stated...they can go buy a new one for not much more than we charge to repair their old one. But it's in a County Courthouse and they'd just as soon pay someone to come out and fix it than buy a new one. Think they're out of luck this time though. I still work on a lot of IBM Selectric and Wheelwriters. Mostly transport motor bearings and print shafts gumming up on the WWs so it's easy money. And EBM in Kentucky is VERY good for support if I ever do need a part for them. But the Smith Corona plastic machines are pretty much disposable in my opinion. Thanks again for the reply! Foos |
