We sell a lot of muratec's, 2830, 1700, 1330, on down, they are actually pretty good machines, just be prepared to learn some new software. Muratec is a pretty solid company with a good reputation. The smaller MFP's really fill a niche that Kyocera is trying to get to with that 1820 thing (scan to SMB is ridiculous to set up). The muratec smaller machines use a web browser to download scans, much better. If you are into Thinkpads take a trip Here!

Ditto to Airborne's response. We sold a lot of the 2830's and now into the 2850's. Solid machine with very little maintenance. Not a big fan of the desktops, though. They are limited but who really uses all the functions. By far, the easiest to set up as printer and scanner. The 2850 is now dual component which not quite happy with but has not shown to be a problem yet. Some areas of the machine are not tech friendly though.

Bringing it back again! We have picked up the 1450/2050 MFPs. They fill a niche that our other brands couldn't. Cheap MFP w/standard fax. Started selling them about 6 months ago. No customer issues yet. We had one show up DOA and one NIC was DOA. Other than that not too shabby.

Reviving this one again. We have started to see quite a few of the 2030s that are rebooting themselves. Annoying for the customer, especially if it is in the middle of receiving a fax or a print job. Reseating the NGP board is recommended but usually this is only solved by replacing the NGP board, then you have to make sure to upgraded the firmware to the latest version and reinstall any user set ups that the machine had prior. Muratec is real good with their support line, they will even upgrade the firmware over the fax line for you, but it takes about 45 minutes to an hour, barring any communication problems over the fax line. Nice little devices for what they are intended for.

Back to the Rebooting issue with these machines. About the time we started having this rebooting issue start up with these machines we also started using a meter read gathering program called PageTrac, which relies on the machine to have SNMP on. At first we were told that the DCA program that collects the meter reading along with machine status would or should not have any affect on the machines during the network scan it performs looking for SNMP enabled devices, well after installing the DCA on a PC that was right next to a Muratec MFX 2030 and witnessing the Muratec reboot itself when the scan reached the IP address that this device was on we figured it had to be the DCA program causing this. We had already replaced a few of the NGP boards in other machines doing the same thing and that solved it, then we found out that the new NGP boards came with a newer level of firmware on it. We started making sure that the NGP firmware was updated to the latest version available and have not had any rebooting issues since.
