Hi again, We are currently viewing OKI equipment as an alternative supplier - particulary at the moment their A4 sized colour copier/printer (ES-1624), because it is a gap in the KM line up! I've been viewing and posting replies on this site for a while now and value your opinions guys... Anyone know if there is an OKI forum??? Regards, Mark

Only Oki products I've been involved with is the one Sharp sold as the AR-C200 color printer. That is a fanatastic machine. Very few maintenance issues and a much better image quality than the 5016/5020/5030 series. Not as competetive on the supply items though. gh

We have been an Oki dealership , on and off, for 15 years. Their products are good. Their toner margins are terrible and I have strong doubts about their commitment to the dealer market; especialy when it comes to service.

Only deal with their fax machines. They have the worst color machines I have ever had to deal with.

Bobafett, what is soo terrible about the Oki color machines? Is the COPY Color poor? Do they Jam? How is the Print Color? Is the Color consistent? A church gave me a copy of their bulletin which was printed off of the Oki C5200 printer, and it looked great. Solid fills in black & color. Halftones could of been better, but I do not know what they printed from. Nor do I know if they just gave me the best printed copy they have, and how consistent the entire print job was.

We are authorized to carry the full Oki Line from faxes to color to impact. If you are looking for good color you could do much worse. For color projects we generate in house at high resolution the color is superb, but for run of the mill PDF files you might download or get from your manufacturer you will see a faint hatch pattern in solids, most users don't notice so you will be OK. Compared to the FS-5030 the color output is a little more vibrant and glossy. The print drivers are a little more touchy then KMA's especially the postscript. Here in the US the biggest problem is the lack of margins on both hardware and supplies since they also sell through the distribution channel to which they give better pricing. Their latest tact is "managed services" for registered accounts where they provide the support level you ask for but pay you a commission for doing the sale. The jury is still out on this one.
