Hey! Dummie, I see this post has 78 views and no responds although I find it very interesting. I must admit I'm a tech that does not utilize this sim. and I think thats from when I was out with my field rep. and suggested it on a weird problem and he responded "oh never do that" with alert in his voice.I'm wondering what sort of problems you fix with this. I'm guessing CF-XXX codes and just firmware related odd communications "random codes". I'm also wondering how much information I would have to re-enter manually IE Sim.changes, programs, one touches ect. I'm interested in your feed back. Keep working the boards. Lift Thanks Skyshot!

We always keep an original U000 print out with history log on site. It helps if SIM adjustments get out of hand over time.

I am a believer in this in some instances. Once I had a 8030 that it would cause a weird line on the print, it would do it after the 1st print. Tried everything, MC, CL. unit, DV. Everything. After that, I had nothing. I finally did a sim 20,21,22. Put everything back in terms of main sims and perfect. It has worked for 2 years with no issues. Messed up but worked.

Cool2skyshot..excellent observation...the fact is a lot of teks are advice to stay away from sim 021 cause they do not understand the tools to get the sim to work to your advantage is simple in the past we did not have sim 917 to back up a lot of the info ,so u have to reprogram everything back by using the back panel sim info & specs not to mention factory settings etc... but nowadays is very simple cause we have sim 917 & all the sims r crealy pointed out in the s|manuals...to me is the best sim|tool to correct a lot of malfunction & issues with the copiers cause it sends u back to original factory specs which gives you a tremendous advantange if u know the procedures to bring everything back to normal...i mention the steps that i take after sim 021 on copier123's post on a 500ci & believe me ...im 100% successfull everytime i use it... Cool1

DUMMIETEK, Keep working the boards, Thanks for the info. I will be utilizing this more often on memory related issues!

It's a defragmentation of memory which obviously can be corrupted.

Worked again Dummie!! This time on 5050 locking up on printing web pages, everything was the latest, driver, firmware version, etc. tried this and that. A waste of time. Then I went with the miracle cure. Thanks again

LMAO! He has obviously never worked on Minolta's in his younger days. It would be nice if Engineering would release the actual complete list of codes too, I won't even bother to get on my "your manuals suck" soap box! Big Grin
