Would somebody who has been to class at the Dallas NTC for the Kyo-shiba 550c - 750c series copiers please let me know if they require me to bring a Windows PC for the class?
I really want to travel as light as I can, and would rather just have my Acer Aspire One netbook with me, but it's running Linux. Huge difference in my carry-on baggage if I need to lug my Windows PC which is over twice the size and weight.

I went to the second class back in July 2009 and at that time laptops were not needed. It is helpful to look up info in class though as the service manual is over 1500 pages and it was helpful to use your own computer when setting up the scanning functions.
Thay have PCs there for class, but you do need something to copy manuals onto, and do pdf seachers. Chris, do you know that product is no longer available?

It's still available enough. Just placed one 2 weeks ago (thus the need for somebody to get trained on the line) and quotes are out for placing up to 4 more.
Thanks for the replies, Looks like my netbook plus a couple of thumbdrives will do the trick.

I have heard the same (no longer available.) Though, after the supply nightmares with our first one, we decided not to even propose them anymore. Toner, PM kits, misc parts are always, always on backorder for at least a month. What a nightmare. I hear that Kyocera is bringing out their own comparable console-style high-end color soon, that's probably why the Kyoshibas are phased out now. Save yourself the trouble, you do not want machines in the field that you can't support.

We where just told you can only get the 750c as they have two in stock and they are not getting any more.
Do you think this means the new one's are around the corner ?
