Anybody remember the DC-513Z?

I showed up to work on one of these beasts for the first time, in the early years before all the mods. When I touched the print button the machine made such a hell-acious noise that I leaped for the power switch to shut it down. It was as though a freight train was passing through.

The secretary says to me "Why did you do that? It always sounds like that."

The fuser drive was grinding itself into fine dust, like they did. I'm so glad those beasts are dead & buried. =^..^=

Customer: Are you sure you're going to be able to put that back together, that's an awful lot of screws

Me: Duhhhh, I dunno, I never had it apart this far before

Sitting at the Board of Education with sections of copier out and almost down to the frame the Superintendent asks me, "Wow! Can you get that back together?".
I inform him I'm just the troubleshooter, I find the problem, order the part and another guy comes out and puts it back together in a few days.
The look of horror on his face was classic!

My favorite was when some upper moron came to me while I had his entire machine Filet-O-Fished and he said "I need to use this machine right away!"
I explained it would take about another 45 minutes or so for me to install the new parts and put it back together.
He said "Well, can't you just put it back together now so I can make my copies and you can take it back apart when I'm done and finish it?"

The stupidest part: they had two other copiers - they were just slower than the one I was working on!!!!!

Relax? When?!
