I must say I'm amazed to see that KMA has released Database Assistant for the 300i series.

Is it me or does this seem strange that something they seemed to have abandon has returned??

I had always hoped that they would incorporate the folder navigation function in DBA into SMB - so that you would point at the root SMB folder and be able to select sub folders.
DBA, while usable, is a little overly complicated to set up. It should really have SFU integrated directly into it (at least as an option) and should be able to run as a service.

I'm curious if anybody else uses (or at least used) this utility - especially the keyword embedder function. I wrote an entire DMS system that used this long before Kyocapture was released.

I really have only used DBA as a solution for selecting sub-folders in a folder tree that changes from month to month. Beyond that, I still don't have a firm understanding about setting up the PDF keyword embedder. The workflow setup on DBA is not intuitive enough for me.

However when a customer needs to direct scans to a folder of their choosing, and that folder tree changes regularly, then the DBA is the only way to get it done. Apparently there was enough lost upgrade sales from people currently needing to use DBA.
