Hey guys do any of you have a release form drawn up to protect you from removing a copier from a business that has a HDD, If they are not willing to either buy the drive or pay for scrubbing? By law in our state if we take possession of the device we are responsible for the data. I am just trying to come up with a release of liability form that would protect us from litigation. If anyone has an example I would appreciate the help. How do your companies deal with this situation?

are customers want the hdd clean or the hdd itself. After they check with their IT, they usually don't complain about the cost. Make sure you pass this cost to the customer in some way, either in the begining or at removal. Might be best to always include the data security kit with new equipment installs and give the customers the white papers Kyocera has published on these security kits. They appear to meet security standards put in place by the industry.
