Why doesn't Kyocera package & price the Finisher with the required Attachment Kits / Job Separators, etc.. I understand they do not make the Finisher, but I would think with every finisher order, an AK-720 & JS-720 is Automatically Included, and the Price List would have the Total Price listed. Also, why can I not order an AK-720 with my machine order!!! We need to order that separatly, since it is not a Serialized item.. The Wholesalers are so easy to do business with. I get my bottom line pricing, package pricing is clean and simple.

That's like asking "Why can't they wait with new firmware, to make sure it actually works before they release it."

I do a little bit of business with two other manufactures, and neither of them is as difficult to do business with as Kyocera. If it is not their pricing programs, it is the firmware we all get frustrated by, as Gazoo stated.. Maybe I am getting too old for this business, but if a manufacture cannot work with it's dealers any better than this, they need to get new management.

Ballpark, I love your post, I have been asking the same questions for years, and have always gotten the company line from KMA or Mita. They do a lot of agreeing and thanksing for suggestions, and some of it DOES change. BUt it still doesn't cover the fact that 'We' are the R&D department, and the testing that they do pre-release is pretty much useless, and we can ALWAYS expect new firmware and updated bulletins within the first 90 days. Let me pose a new question: How long would a tech last in a company if everytime he worked on a machine there had to be two more techs following up on what he did? Are we really asking too much for Kyocera to "get it right the first time" just once? I may have just crossed the line, but what the hell, I'm old and fat, what are they gonna do...take away my birthday?

Ballpark - to answer your original question - it's because the DF-760 will fit other models in the near future (heck, they may even work on a KM-4050 right now...) Realistically the color machines should either have a job separator standard (since you almost always need one anyway) or at least it should have a switchback unit and the job separator simply be the tray and light. Of course, nobody really asks for a job separator - especially if they get a finisher anyway. Also, the Mono machines should really just come with the AK kit attached. I would think that in the big picture - between packaging, handling, shipping, manufacturing there can't be much profit margin there. BTW - who makes the finishers? I haven't seen anything like them on anything else - of course, the 73's/730's etc. are Canon's (as many in the past have been - Falcon I/II booklet finishers), but I got the impression that the bigger finishers were KMA produced... I have to say, the newer series finishers are certainly more time consuming to set up - don't know why we need to remove several brackets and a dozen screws without even adding any options - not to mention having to add 3-hole punch.... Relax? When?!
