Guys i did my first pm on the Kyoshiba 550c. All was easy except the fuser rebuild. Are you kidding me? I have been doing this for 20 years and have worked on many types of copiers.Never Toshiba. I do admit that KMA models have their issues. But to put a 500k cycle fuser in a KMA is 1 min. This thing took me over 2 hours. Can you be profitable on a crazy low 240k PM on such a large machine? Have to do this at every 240k? Great scott, that thing comes apart in a million pieces! The guy that went to school on it quit. I had to read along with the laptop. Now i love rebuilding an 8030 fuser.

yep a big pain. make sure your gaps are set too. i've had the fuser eat the belt because i was rebuilding in a hurry and didnt have the tools to set the gaps. hope yours turned out better than my first two, or three or four..lol

I don't recall gaps either. I've rebuilt 3 so far and no problems.

LNorris: What gaps do you speak of?

in the fuser rebuild section of the service manual, it shows the gaps and the tools. i rebuilt one before going to school. i had changed some of the gaps and the fuser ate the belt. so be careful with those.

Kicking my butt. 10,000 copies after the rebuild. It has a wrinkle in the belt. It shows up in an impression in the copy. You can see the wrinkle in the belt. The deal is, is that i don`t see that the belt is running too far up to one side. I mean it is not exactly in the center of the spools but it is not binding and has some space on the side running closest to the spool.I ordered the belt, and the foam roller that the belt wraps around. I am thinking maybe there could be something on that foam roller that is putting that wrinkle in the belt. I also ordered the align tool. Don`t know why it would be out of adj. because i didn`t move anything in the rebuild. The parts are too costly for this machine so i have to get it right. They should be in this week. Man i hate this fuser!!Any help? Please.

Did anyone do the mod for the fuser noise? It works, but it did take one and a half hours to do the first one. The rest we will do at PM time.

Fuser fun again. Had to remove the fuser drive block in the back of the machine. Two gears broken in block. Also the fuser gear and the 2 gears that drive the fuser on the inside of the frame worn down. There is less than 300k on this thing!!
Has anybody here heard of loosening some of the fuser pressure to make the fuser easier to turn? This thing is a beast to turn by hand. I can understand why the drive gears break and wear out early.Too much force.Loosening slightly would make sense. We have two machines with the same issue. These fusers suck.

check the sat roller and make sure it has not worn on one side, this will cause a wrinkle on the belt and make sure the scraper guide is not out of adjustment. also the pm 800 fuser kit has all the rollers and fuser belt, and ends. the press roll is in the kit and is only replaced every other pm according to km but i replace it when i do the pm with belt. The less you have to open that fuser up the better

Yeah, we did the complete rebuild. You are right. Once you take it apart, good luck.Scary thing is the new machines are somewhat the same and they are wrinkling and tearing the belt too!

Luckily we have only one out in the field (kyocera forced us to buy it). I'm on my 4 belt now. First (original) lasted about 1 year and a half, second about 9 months and the third only about 2 months. It has rotational scratches in both front and rear side of the belt in an area where there is nothing touching or not even close to touching that belt. I did see the warning about gap adjustments but I did not touch anything in the warning that needed the adjustment tool. I've been using Toshiba parts for a Fuser PM kit and collars and bearings and followed all the instructions with all the cautions.Did have those 2 gears in the fuser drive assy replaced about 2 months after placing the machine out in the field. The machine worked pretty good except the fuser. Aleready did the Black PM about a year ago. If anybody has any input ....
