How many calls do guys average per day? Do you work on the whole line? I do about 8 to 9 calls a day and work on three lines of machines. All color,B&W,scanners, shredders, faxes, washing machines.Joke. Drive about 50 to 100 miles per day. We have 2 IT guys. I don`t have enough time for too much IT stuff. 18yrs exp.
I do approx. 5 to 7 calls per day, work on 3 main manufactures, I have worked on anything from copiers, printers, faxes, check stripping machines, folders, and hot air balloons (joke). I am the only guy,...so if I have a recall,...IT SUCKS!!! I travel on an average of 75 to 100 miles per day and I dont do any "IT" work, I stay away from that end. I have been doing this since 1986, and on my own since 1993.

My crew (5) techs average just over 4 calls per day. We service the Greater Los Angeles area, from the desert to the sea as it has been put. I am curious as to what techs are averaging in some of the larger metro areas still driving 75-125 miles a day with traffic?
I probably average around 7 stops a day and 100 miles a day. I have to deliver the new machines and network them also. I cancel many of my service calls depending upon the nature of them. 17 stops in one day has been my record. I work in a area where I am the only technician.
Companies are trying to run so lean now, It is hard also, to find a rare breed that can do this job, work cheap, and not stressed out.Cut backs in training makes me have to learn while i work. Bilyzoom, i would like to have 4 calls a day.Hiring? We used to have 6 tech`s in the 90`s but now we just have three and more equip. We also move the equip. between service calls.I am getting to old to move crap up 3 flights of stairs like i used to.I guess i am licky to still be working.Even though the economy is bad there is still a lot of copier work out there.
We used to have three technicians in my area and now I have 6 times more equipment and I am the only one, mostly because of the Kyocera products are running so good compared to the old days, plus they are a lot easier to work on and you can do your service calls faster.

I find them very labor intensive and old school mech. compared to KM.You have to rebuild units and the pm cycles are short.Cheaper product to sell.Cut backs in training makes me have to learn while i work.I find them complicated compared to KM.
