We used to be able to send a "preconfigured" file to the print systems and printers to configure them all to be used on mass networks such as schools or hospital systems. Since then, Kyocera has disabled that ability due to some "Government standards" on security measures and such. DO ANY OF YOU GURUS IN HERE KNOW OF AN ALTERNATIVE TO USING A CONFIG FILE TO DO THIS IN MASS ROLLOUTS (OTHER THAN PUTTING THE MACHINES ON A MINI NETWORK WITH A ROUTER AND ENTERING ALL THE NETWORK INFO BY REMOTING INTO THE INTERFACE)? Because that method still takes several minutes.
Depending on the model, there are some ways to pull some of the settings data and save it to either a CF card or a USB stick. Check out maintenance mode 917 and also 933. Not sure if this is what settings your looking for.
I'm trying out iMacros to connect to the command center to setup new machines with no email size limit, our SMTP server for copy counts, etc. I had to fiddle with the macro, but it eventually worked well. If I take out the URL statement in the macro, I should be able to run it on many copiers easily.

I wish KM would have an 'Offline Command Center' much like the Address Book editor for setting up profiles and pushing them to machines.
Even if there was a command set like FRPO so that we could script stuff like this would be very helpful - we'd just have to copy the file to \\printer\lp1 and be done with it....
I haven't touched iMacros lately. It seems rather fragile and the command center frames don't help.
I did find something nifty in the KMnet Viewer. If you right-click on a machine and go to Advanced -> Set Multiple Devices..., it looks like it will copy settings from another machine or a file and set them on the machines you selected. If you work the UI right, it can also save settings from a machine to a file. I've only barely tested it with the Address Book (and it's easier to just copy and paste the Address Book elsewhere in KMnet Viewer). I tested it on a few machines in the office, and it likes the 250ci but won't work with the KM-1820, FS-3800, and FS-5016.
Just a small warning: it sends address book passwords (SMB and FTP) plaintext over the network.
EDIT: Well, that was a big joke. The only useful thing in Defaults is scan settings, and the Network settings only have on/off for each protocol. No time server, SMTP server, DNS settings, etc are stored. Users and Address Book could be useful, and I think I can copy Job Accounting numbers with KMnet for Accounting, but the rest is disappointing. This message has been edited. Last edited by: aragul,
