assaf..i have seen issues like this one before...my suggestion for you is to dis-connect the copier from the network, and connect your pc with crossover to the copier, sometimes data packets can interfere with the printing sytems of some mfps during network services.operations on the mfps can be erratic & confusing...hope this information can help you,i know 90%of crossover testing connection work on my end...carefull with IT personnel testing ips protocols...collitions can also disable mfps printing system..good luck... Having the same issues with a TA 5500i. Replaced a KM-5050 which was working fine with the 5500i yesterday. As soon as we plugged in the network cable the op panel froze and locked up machine. Disconnected network cable, cycled power, connected laptop and it printed fine. Connecting back to the banks network, the machine froze. Verified that POE was not on the line. Any ideas?

Are they filtering what mac addresses are allowed on network ? Try putting your laptop on there network see what happens ? I would want my bank to do that. Also check your security level. I also at one point had a microsoft update attach to a 400ci and the link light would not stop blinking until the server was rebooted. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyshot1,

Static IP? Try letting the MFP DHCP. I have one account that this has occurred, 3 times with three different machines at three different locations around town. We assign a new static IP and it works. I would like to know the cause. After mine sat idle for 5 - 10 minutes it went through all the keystrokes I made while it was froze. Something causing it to be busy. Still confused on this issue but I'm confused on a higher level! We have had multiple problems with this install. First, there was power over ethernet turned on which locked the machine up instantly. Second, a large job from an IBM mainframe would also lock the machine up. The banks IT personnel tweeked some settings on the IBM which made that job print flawlessly. They also turned off POE. We rolled the second machine in they purchased (5500i) in case there was damage to the original 5500i's network card. Now various jobs are locking up from workstations. They have the KX driver installed on each workstation in this case. Should I have the IT people install a uni driver? Not really sure where to go next. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Let's go back to basics: 1. Test from your laptop directly via crossover. 2. Set NIC media to 10BaseT half duplex and if you're using a static address allocate a different one (can't tell you how many times I've had an IT admin tell me to use an address that actually has or has had something else at that address that causes problems). Personally I'd use DHCP to test with (although I've been places that have a router and server furnishing ip's in the same subnet blindly...) 3. Install an HP Laserjet 4 driver on a workstation and test with it (the one that comes with Windows - if the OS is too new to show an LJ4 use a LaserJet 4000 series PCL driver). 4. Bump NIC settings up and retest (repeat until maximum speed is achieved. Don't use AUTO!) 5. Install mini driver on workstation and test. 6. Install KX driver on workstation and test. 7. Install mini driver on server and test. 8. Install KX driver on server and test - be sure and clean up with the deleter utility first. I've seen super old KX drivers on a server from a single older printer we didn't sell them cause problems.(Printer wasn't installed anymore but the drivers were still there) Relax? When?!

What machine is this? We recently had a Taskalfa3050ci doing this exact thing. Testing via laptop only confused the issue because it worked flawlessly via laptop and crossover. We ended up escalating back to Kyocera and they have fixed with a new FW that is not released yet. I would get onto Kyocera mate.
