Has anyone heard of Danyl expense management system. www.compcontrolsys.com Danyl Recount 2 model 10KE-Plus
It is currently hard wired to a Sharp AR-505. We were told that we need to connect it to get the prospects business. Apparently account codes on machine won’t cut it for them so we must connect it. Kyocera states they only support Equitrack and is no help.
Can it be connected to a KM/CS-5050? Have you ever done it? Is there any expense to it? What does it take?
I wouldn't expect it would be much of a problem. Most of these devices can be connected to the key counter port.
Usually these employ a simple relay and an opto-isolator for pulse detection. Their website states that it will work with ANY copier - that's their claim, not yours, so they should be willing to provide you with any help you may need - but I've never had any difficulty with these types of devices. You can get the key counter connector parts from KMA - use the blow up for the Key Counter itself for the part numbers. You'll have to consult the wiring diagram for pinouts for the connector.
The manufacturer may also have a cable or adaptor available - I would recommend you contact them in advance. They should be pretty helpful - since you may potentially sell their product.
Attaching to the Key Counter IS the problem. I am under the impression that there are no connections for a key counter on the 5050's and newer equipment.
Ahhh, but they are there. Look in the service manual under the installation setting and I think there is a section on how to install a HECON type controller. That should help you find the connector that you need. I think there is a simulation that you need to turn on as well to enable the counter. (maybe somewhere in the 200's).
I have used older Danyl system on older machines, and it interfaced seamlessly. I am sure with the right plug the connection and use will not be an issue. This is more of an accounting system than anything else, the interface with the copier is simply an automatic way of keeping track of the copies/prints/scans made by each, user,dept., etc. and will interface with all output devices so anytime anyone in that office uses any output device it will be accounted for properly. This is nothing for you to really worry over.
