Has anyone else noticed a problem with printing from MS Outlook Express to Falcon-engine KM model copiers and printers? (FS 9100,9500,9120,9520,KM 2530,3530,4030,3035,4035,5035) I have a customer with a fairly new KM 3530 and is making a lot of noise about a problem printing from OE. It prints fully viewable on a cheapy Epson inkjet on his desk, but the text is from the extreme left margin to the extreme right margin. Print margins cannot be adjusted in OE. On the 3530 the leftmost 1 to 2 columns of text is off the edge of the left hard margin of the printer. Printing from all other software is OK. I believe I noticed the same thing on the FS 9500 we use at our office for the short time we used Outlook Express (since changed to Pegasus Mail). KMA is ignoring my inquires about this. Need some feedback please. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

A possible solution that I would try is to open up your hard margins(L parameters) just enough so that all of the text will print. Experiment in increments, so that you don't get it too out of whack. Make sure that you take a STAT1 page before you start playing around with these settings because the only way to get them back to defaults is doing it yourself. An engine reset won't bring them back to factory, and most of the newer print systems' hard margin defaults aren't listed anywhere.

We print from the full version of Outlook 98 and 2000 all the time. We also properly update all our workstations (service pack 3 rings a bell) and you may make sure your running the latest drivers. We don’t have any problems and have never received a call regarding this. Before you change the machine settings, you may want to closely look at the workstations.

Update: Still not fixed. I spent this entire morning moving around the print hard margins (FRPO L1-L8) and also experimented with FRPO R3 and D1 settings. In the driver I also tried checking GDI compatible in the PDL settings, and all 3 options for font downloading. Nothing changed the print alignment. The problem is only with MS Outlook Express 6 (I verified the version today) and MS Outlook 2002. Printing from other applications on the same PC are OK. Called hotline and basically was given the brush-off. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

might check/adjust your scaling on the layout tab of the KX driver. not a solution but a temp measure. Have not heard of this and we have bunches of these out there.

Found this on a "Read Me" file on ver 7.22 drivers. Known Issues with the Kyocera Mita KX Printing System (10) Issue: When printing documents formatted to older printers; such as HP, Lexmark and legacy Kyocera models; the document’s layout prints incorrectly. Solution: When printing documents that were formatted using older printers from Kyocera, HP and/or Lexmark, select Disable Device Fonts on the Graphics\Fonts tab in Printer Properties. To access this tab when printing from applications, follow these directions: a)Select Print from the File Menu. b)Click the Properties button in the Print dialog. c)Click the Imaging tab. d)Click the Font Settings… button e)Click the Disable Device Fonts setting to activate the setting. f)Click OK to exit the Font Settings dialog g)Click OK to return to the Print dialog. h)Click Print to print the document.

Thanks everyone for the continuing input. I returned to the customer yesterday and I have proven to my satisfaction that the problem exists inside the PC of the customer and not with the hardware or Kyocera software/drivers. I brought an old laptop PC with the same version Win98 SE and Outlook Express 6 as the customer. Had the same KX driver version and KPrint version. My test prints of email from OE had a proper 1 inch margin all around. I also tried a different print system in and had the customer print to it and get the same result. I eliminated the hardware with that, same version software/drivers worked OK on a different PC, I say the customer has to fix his PC. It may take a clean installation of Windows or a new PC, but it's definitely not any of the parts I'm responsible for. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com
