5050 twain scan

Hi Guys, I have a customer that scan to a program using twain scan only. It has to be twain scan. I tried to use the scanner on this machine but the transfer from the copier to the program is to slow. Does anyone know how to speed this thing up?
The customer is using a falcon 1 (KM-3530)for scanning and it is faster than the 5050, all I need is for this 5050 to do, is to match the speed of the old copier.
Thank in advance.

Is the 5050 scanning at the same resolution, original type, etc. as the 3530? Keep in mind also that the 5050 has a color scanner. Make sure the defaults are set to B/W and lower the resolution to get faster scans. Good luck...

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Both of the machines are scanning to the same settings, and the default is B/W for the 5050. The problem seems to be when the computer acquires the scanned docs from the machine, it just takes looooooooong for the transfer to take place.
Example: a 50 page job took about 18- 20 minutes (seemed like an hour).

Are you absolutely certain there is no way to get stuff into the package they are using other than twain?

I have a customer that had a similar issue (seemingly required twain) - using twain is a little cumbersome since there is no 'blind' twain mode on the copier (an optional setting to allow automatically allowing a twain connection to be initiated from the computer side instead of manually selecting on the copier before you can perform a scan).

I contacted the software vendor and they really didn't have any suggestions, but while I was on the phone with them I was asking what some of the executable files were in the package's directory. They didn't have much to say, so I started experimenting.

The package (Lacerte DMS) actually has the ability to 'Print' a document to it using a PDF printer that utilizes one of the executables to pull up an import screen.

I ended up setting up scan to folder and set up a program called 'DirMon' that monitors the folder and launches the import routine with the scanned filename as the argument. Works great.

Relax? When?!

cboucher and scoful thank you for your response.
Yes it has to be twain, in order for the pages to be OCR. My customer uses a program called Ebridge, and all the scanning into this program is done via internet. I have little to no access to their network for any experimenting.
Thank again, and if any ideas come up I would greatly appreciate them.

If you think it might be a slow down in the network transfer that is causing the problem, then you might want to check the 10/100 Connection setting under Basic>Defaults>Network. It's probably set to Auto, but you might want to experiment with other settings (namely 100BASE-TX-Full). At least that way you know that the copier NIC is operating at it's top speed. Good luck...

Sorry for taking this long to give an update, but I had no success. I did use all your suggestion, but no luck. the customer ended up getting a scanner through the software company, and last time I passed by there, they were having issues.
Thank you all for help.

This is going to seem silly , but format your Hard Disk Drive. Don't forget to run the sim to back up your settings/ fax data on the drive.

I had the same problem and this fixed it. Mine was on scan to SMB and via twain.
