I am told SANDISK products are the ones to use.
Is that for both CF Cards and USB Thumb Drives? I tried both methods with a different brand without success. It appears you can format the thumb drives at the m/c but not the CF Card. I tried also at my computer and loaded a firmware file and had no success in updating. I thought I would see some sort of message from the display when updating from the thumb drive. I am following the one page procedure from the service manual. Perhaps someone can point out the error of my procedure. Regards Ed ATTN:FURNFUZ ED |

I recall that the media used for the flash has to be formatted by a PC, not the copier. That applies to both USB thumbdrives and CF cards.

Thanks Chris
I did try both methods with USB drive but as I say I was expecting to see something happen in the display indicating the upgrade was occurring. I hope to get my hands on a SANDISK brand in the morning. I have been using other brands on the previous series with no problem. ED |

Works Great...
Format your usb flash drive on your pc. Copy all the files from the folders you unzipped to the root of the drive. You can put all the files from all the firmare files, I.E. Main, MMI, Engine, Scanner at the same time. Turn off the machine, install the drive an turn the machine back on. It will give you the progress of each file being uploaded and a report when it's complete. It took a miute or less per file. Tom P.S. New firmware (posted 1-15-07 or so) did nothing to speed up the display lag time. |
