I have a Copystar 2050 will print one page then drop off line everytime. I bypass the switch and cancelled all the documents in the queue. I can turn the copier off and on and it will print one print and drop off line. Any Ideas?

I would try using a different ip address first. I had a similar issue on a 2050, but when I brought in another machine it would drop offline too. We used a different ip address and all is well.

Bad switch. Replaced the switch and it worked. Odd thing though, when I plugged it into the wall, bypassing the switch, it would still drop out and go off line. When I replaced the switch it never went off line.

Is the customer using Dell computers? The reason I'm asking is that there is an application on Dell computers (sorry but I don't remember the name) that pings ip's on the network, for some reason when it pings a kyocera it locks up the port and makes the copier or printer offline.

I can't remember the name of this either - something like 'Dell Network Assistant' but it causes problems for Oki and some other brands too. Gotta love stupid Dell bloatware.

It's also important to note that incorrect CAT5 wiring can cause problems like this too.

One thing I've found being an IT person in the copier industry is that customer staff IT tends to deny any problems or changes within their own network. If I didn't have a better skill set than most of those guys I'd be beatin' my head against the wall probably a solid full day a week!

Last week a computer customer of mine called saying an individual couldn't send them email and their IT person insisted it wasn't anything on their end. When I got the sender to forward me the rejection message it CLEARLY stated it was rejected by their internal server! Mediocrity abounds!

Relax? When?!

Thanks for thes suggestions. The server is off site and I will pass on the information. The copier has not gone off line since I replaced the hub. It is still working.
