One of our customers is trying to print 4 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper in booklet format from Word. The 4230 insists on shrinking it to half pages instead of printing it on 11 x 17. In house we've been able to get it to work on a 4530 by setting the scaling option in Word to "ledger". (We don't have a 4230 to try it one) This doesn't work at the customer site. The one striking difference we've noted is that when setting the print options to booklet mode in store it number of pages per sheet defaults to "2" and the option is greyed out. At the customer site the option is NOT greyed out, and the default is one. Changing it to "2" still causes it to scale to 2 per sheet on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Any help is appreciated!

Isn't that booklet mode function in the KX driver frustrating? I have a 5230 with system J on it in shop, I'll experiment if I have time. The setup from MS Office has been to not do any special formatting with the document or in the print dialog. In the KX driver select Booklet Mode, select the 11x17 paper drawer manually, Paper size to Letter and print size set to Same as Paper Size. Some printers need experimentation with using landscape or portrait mode. I also recommend setting print language to PCL5 or KPDL. PCL XL tends to get overridden by MS Office document's page setup settings. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

OK, here's the tested and verified settings in the KX driver printing a 4 page Word doc to 11x17 booklet. Booklet Mode on Page size = Letter Print size = Same as Page Size Orientation = Portrait Paper Source = <11x17 paper drawer> Once the correct setup is found, use the Profile feature to save the settings and call them up for next time (only available on KX driver versions issued from early last year). ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

Thanks, Chris! Another interesting twist is that the customer moved to a PC that runs Office 2000 instead of XP and was able to print it without the issues.

As a footnote, in Office XP, the "Scale to Paper Size" option needs to be set to Ledger.
