What is the best third party source for replacement hard drives? We've had a lot of 6030 HDD's go out here recently. I've actually taken an HDD out of a 2560 and put it in a 6030 and after formatting made it work. Do the specs of the replacement drive have to match the original?

I bought a Western Dig. 80 gig HDD off of Tiger Direct. Put it in a 6030 and formatted, seems to be working fine.

Just make sure the you spend the extra two bucks for the hd version with the larger cache. On the low end most manufacturers make two versions of the drives. The larger cache improves the performance by allowing the drive to work 'smarter'. This seems to improve the longevity of the drive as well.

Spend the cash on the cache.

Will huge Hard drives work in these machines? I am replacing one for a KM5050 with C0640s. The code is gone, but it program loads forever and then pops a CF code. Is 80gig a hardline maximum?

So would replacing the hard drive with a SSD make it a Turbo???

Haven't done it but thinking about it as SSD pricing keeps falling, they sure would be more reliable than the OEM drives.

Not to mention if size is a problem (don't know on this one yet) SSD's tend to be smaller....
