I have a 2550 set up to network fax. When I send the fax to the 2550 fax printer I get an error message on the computer. The fax goes through just find but the computer says error printing. We have upgraded the firmware on the print, copier, scan, and fax systems. Any one have any other ideas?

Its been a while since I set up a network fax but it seems to me that there is a specific set up for the scan file utility. Until that is done you either get errors or a uncompleted fax. Please let me know the final solution. Thanks ED
Bill, did you search the forum for network fax issues? Seems like I remember something about someone trying to us an ip address when they installed the fax driver, you don't need to it uses LPT1 and you put the scanner IP address in the RX settings on the fax driver. I've set up a bunch of these and have not had to do anything with scanner file utility. Hope that is of some help.
Edit: when i've set up a customer who wants an email notification of a fax it is necessary to set the smtp server and the rx/tx folders in scanner file utility. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Airborne,
I'm having a hard time following the description of the problem, but I think I read that when you send a fax with the network fax printer driver that it is sent out OK but with an error on the sending PC.
I think Airborne might have the answer. Did you change the port in the fax printer driver properties from lpt1? It should stay on lpt1 and the ip or hostname is instead entered in the "prefereneces". That part has to be right already or the fax would never get sent.

I think airborne was right also. I just talked to the tech who did the install and he said that he changed the fax driver to print to an ip address and not to LPT1. He is going to go check it out today, so I will let you know.

I knew someone else would have this problem. I have had it and spent 3 days working on it. Aparrently, "certain computers" have this problem with the notification on the printer icon in the taskbar. It says unable to print, yet it still works. In order to fix, you have to change the port from LPT1 to the standard tcp/ip port that you created for the printer driver. If it isnt created due to the printer being a network printer create it using Standard tcp/ip port and th Printer ip address. Yes , normally it needs to be LPT1 but I think it may be on pcs without a parrallel cable(since new laptops seem to only have usb.) This issue is only on some manufacturers pcs. Cheers!!!!
