While upgrading firmware and adding additional memory to see if we can stop cf620 code, the customer mentioned that with multiple print jobs being sent to copier that instead of each printing in turn they will mix some jobs together. Any ideas?
COPIERDUDE497 P.S. still get the cf620. Main DIMM is on backorder and the ops DIMM thru a b30 after we installed it. Just put back the old one and ordered another one. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket? |

Wow - Kinky!
If they're right it doesn't sound very good. PWB?!? P.S. - Don't underestimate the value of a good power conditioner on these machines..... Relax? When?! |

I hate to sound like the not-so-hotline, but I have heard rumors that v. 2.05A firmware is supposed to fix the CF620 errors. I've also heard rumors that v. 2.05A fimware has some problems.
I cannot confirm either. Have you tried the new firmware? =^..^= =^..^= |

I believe the 2.05A was what we just installed. It was the firmware dated jan/feb of '08. Waiting to go back with new DIMMS and get the HDD partitioned. If any of this ever happens I will post the results.

Replaced both DIMMS and cf code went away. The customer is going to get a server and according to their IT guy that should take care of the mixing of print jobs.

Whatever their IT guy did seemed to take care of the problem. I think all the computers had been printing directly to the copier and now they go thru a server.

Rodney - (and whoever else is having this problem)
A little clarification - what exactly is getting mixed up: 1. A 20 page job prints the pages in an order like 1,2,3,4,5,17,6,18,7,6 etc. or 2. Phil decides to print a 20 page PDF file. After he clicks the print button, Susan prints a letter from Word. Susan's job prints before Phil's even though his started first. I have seen on more than one occasion a 'print server' setup with additional stray peer print connections are running. The easiest way to take care of it is to change the IP address and Hostname of the machine. Suddenly the IT department is getting complaints from users that can't print... you've found your culprits. If it's page order - what emulation is being used? Have you tried changing Spooling settings? Is it from particular application(s)? Relax? When?! |

The best I can determine Bob sends a 20 page print job and when he goes to get it Susan's 3 page job is in the middle of his pages this is a client which will not let me touch them system so I can only suggest to the IT manager what to try ... AHHH the joys of the lovely IT people ,also 20 people use this machine who's to say Larry isn't picking up a fax job and mixing up everyone Else's paper work??? Jeeez I guess I will tell everyone see your IT guy...

IF you don't have a server spooling the print jobs, and everyone prints directly to the machine, like many small business. I set each of the computers printer properties Advanced Tab for Spool documents and Start Printing AFTER last page is spooled. I don't have the problem with mixed up print jobs.

It's important to note that different software handles printing differently.
Microsoft Excel can break a large Workbook up into several print jobs. In a peer printing setup, another user that submits a job before the first segment of the job completes may be interpreted as the next job to print - in the middle of someone else's Workbook. Jeff's solution may take care of it. You really need to insist their IT people provide you with the details - which programs they were printing from, copies of the files they were printing etc. Output settings (sort, duplex etc.) I am certain other software handle things this way. Also - somehow the print driver handles it if you staple. It manages to figure out that all of the Excel chunks are one print job and staple them together - which Jeff's solution may be tied to. Relax? When?! |

I sure miss working on DC211's! Didn't have nearly the number of problems we have to deal with now. Of course back then we had to wear ties and that kinda sucked.
