I installed a scan board on a 6030 but it doesn't work. I get "cannot use scanner". I reset the jumper on the board, tried different cables, different ports on the switch but no luck. The link lights are lit on the board. I put it in a voyager to test and it worked fine. Am I looking at a main board problem?

It probably won't help, but I'd do the firmware first (v.348), then the main board.

I'm sure you tried this, but don't you get this message when the scanner is not plugged into the network? It could be that the port that you have the scanner plugged into is not "hot". Try moving the cable from the machine's printer port to the scanner port and see if you get the same results.

Not only do you have to have it plugged in but DHCP is required for initial setup! It will not bomb out to a 169 address like a PC does if it times out while trying to obtain an address (this may not be the case for all models - not sure).
If the network you are on is static only you will have to bring in a router to plug the scanner into to do the initial setup. Also - have you tried a different scanner PCB? Any of the NS-30 scanner PCB's will work - KM2530/KM4530/KM1650 etc. Relax? When?! |

Progoffice is spot on on this one.
The Cable must be plugged in AND active. If there is no link light at the RJ45 plug, you will get that message. Scoful? If the cable is plugged in and active all you need to do is go in and set the IP under scanner defaults at the panel. Even if the network is static, find an open IP and enter it at the panel.
