The machine has been installed over a year n was working fine till 3 weeks ago. When you sent print jobs nothing happens(about 10 users)Installed latest firmware no help, deleted and re installed drivers worked for a while(3 hours) now same thing.Changed cables, upgraded power lines, surge protectors no help.Sent a loaner 3900 printer works fine. Going crazy any suggestions!Took a lap top connected directly works fine. Can it be in their network ?IT says their network is OK.

That usually means it's their network. It smells like a print server issue. Can you view the printer website? If not, can you ping the printer IP? Are the workstations going through a print server or printing directly?

Other thing from past experience: 1. Linksys branded switches and routers. They go stupid from time to time and need to be reset by unplugging the power to make them work again for a while. 2. A duplicate IP address. Not too difficult to track, just unplug the printer and ping the IP that is supposed to be only assigned to that printer. If you get a response, then something else is using that IP also. This can happen when there is a mixture of DHCP and static IP's in use and there is no net administrator with dictatorial power. 3. Network interface of the copier is bad. Very rare, but it has happened once or twice in the past. Look carefully into the RG-45 connector, sometimes the pins get bent down due to the fact that a USB cable end can be pushed inside of this connector and fit easily. I won't explain how I know this. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

Had another thought. Turn off all the unused protocols in the Kyocera Command Center. Also, it is a remote possibility that the printer port is using a NetBUI connection which is more problematic than the TCP/IP method. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

You can also set the NIC media type through command center. The 'Auto' mode - which is the default can cause some problems with some switches. The other thing to note is that even if you do disconnect the copier and ping the address and don't receive a response you may still have an IP address conflict - many (software or hardware) firewalls block the ping request and some devices flat out don't support ping. Usually with these kinds of problems - especially if they use a print server (since I don't have to go around to each workstation to update it) - I will change the IP address to another just to eliminate this possibility. Relax? When?!

I have heard this so many times, "It's not the network". Unplug the cat 5 cable and reset the copier/print sys. Connect your laptop and run test prints and such, if it prints fine from your laptop then chances are the Print Sys is OK. Plug their Cat 5 cable back in and see if there is Processing Data or something. If so check to make sure there is no print jobs stuck.
