Have a 5035 and a C5030 on a wireless network. The print nic cards shut down after about 15 minutes (cannot ping to them), the scanner nic doesn't. Anyone ever have this problem?

Do they have and Dell computers?

If so, check for and remove the 'Dell Network Assistant Utility'. It causes problems with KM, Oki and Lexmark printers (possibly more. Apparently it does a periodic sweep of the network.

I haven't seen it cause a problem in a year or two, so it may have been updated to eliminate the problem.

Ask not what you can give your country, but what your country will allow you to keep to feed you family.

Thanks, i'll check that

There ISP tech said it was some kind of malware on the network, but he didn't find much.

If I reboot the machines, I can ping them again, but they shut down after about 10-15 minutes. I did create my own little network with my laptop and had no problems.

I have to go there sometime today. If anyone else can think of anything, would be much appreciated.

Some Cisco switches have issues with auto media selection on IB-2x series. You may need to set it manually.

This can be done through telnet or through the web interface on some models.

Had this happen with some older Sharp machines on a network once. Hooked up as a shared network printer on their server. It ended up being a virus of some type on one PC that when that PC sent a print job and when it would get to the copier, the copier would reboot itself. Deleted the print job from the que and the rest of the jobs in the que printed fine. Had two systems on this network and when that same PC sent a print job to the other system, it too would start to reboot.

Thanks for the replies.

Found that dell network app running, removed it off the computer and problem seems to be gone.

Funny I never saw this after years of setting up machines.
