I've read through all the posts I can find on here about setting scan up using DOMAIN/user name, etc... But we're unable to get the scan to work. We've got four computers in our office. 2 using XP and one older one using Win98. Can't get any to work with scans.

1. In Command Center I have input IP address of destination PC where it asks for host name.

2. I have created a folder on the C drive and named it "scan". I have input the name "scan" (no quotes) in the path box.

3. I have input the PC's login username.

4. I have input the PC's login password.
But when attempting to scan we get error 1102 which states that login username is incorrect or domain name is not entered. When I check the Network setup on the Win98 machine it lists our "workgroup" as XXXX. According to Tech Support I don't need to enter any domain name in the username box if we're running in a workgroup setup. But maybe our machines are actually using a domain? How do I find out? How do I get the domain name? Remember, newbie here. IMWS

Any clues to what we're missing would be Supremely appreciated.

98 Unsure!!!!!
Use the username and password of the pc you are trying to scan to.

There is a workaround for scanning if anyone has issues with domain security or other issues. Scan to a Doc Box, load the twain driver on the PC and use paperport to acquire the files.

Just to clarify. We are using workgroup instead of Domain so this should be fairly simple. But, still getting the error 1102 which says we're inputing the username or password wrong. But have checked and double checked. Scan folder is set for full sharing. But error doesn't even seem to be getting that far into the process anyway.
Tech Support says they can remote check it if we continue to have problems. Think we might try that next.
I'll let you know what stupid thing we've done when we get there.

Foos, did you enter the user name and password in for the PC in the web browser when you set up the scan to folder?

The one thing I see missing in all the steps taken is the entry for destination folder.

You enter the share name of the folder, not what it is named locally when you browse it, with no slashes or backslashes.

Talked to tech support, Again. He talked me through Command Center/Advanced/TCPIP/General

and found that we do indeed have a domain name listed. The company that came in to set up the PCs for the boss had told him we weren't on a domain, just a workgroup.
So...Still having problems but I think we're getting closer.
Entering IP address in Host Name (of PC we are scanning to)
In Path we are listing simply "scan" which is the name of the folder created on the C drive.
Should this be listed differently? Not using quotes, just the word scan.

Then in username I've read several methods.
we've tried JOE\username
JOE/username
usernam@JOE
username@JOE.local
And finally the password from the PC's login requirement.

Still only getting a error 1102. Which states the username is incorrect.
Chris...
should I be listing the path differently? Share name is different than folder name? In the folder properties it lists the share name as the same as the folder name. Both are "scan".

Sounds like the folder name is correct then.

Scanning to the WinXP machines, you can enter the username in the format domainuser@domainname

This is if the domain name is in the format of domain.com, domain.local, domain.(whatever). If not, then follow the Win98 directions.

For Win98, the format is DOMAINNAME/username with no suffix on the end of the domain name (like a .com or .local or .org).

Here is a quote from some of the docs I received at the boot camp:

Domain Notes

1. Create eg c:\scans and give full share permissions
2. Make sure domain is entered in Command Centre –advanced TCP/IP
3. In Command Centre –Basic –Address Book –Contacts,
Use either host name or IP address,
Path = e.g. scans (note no backslash)
user name = username@domain.local
password = logon password


. On the path do not put the drive letter.
If the path is C:\ scans, just enter ( scans).
if the path is C:\my document\scans then enter only (mydocuments\scans)
