How do I tell if SMB is enabled on the server and how do I configure the device to use SMB on to a certain folder on the X Drive for everyone to use.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

What OS is the server running? SMB should be enabled by default anyway so that should not be an issue.
Create a folder with appropriate permissions on that drive, share it out (see previous posts referencing permissions if on a domain), use the admin account on the server for the user name and password when you create the path in the web browser for the 4050. Also make sure SMB protocol is enabled in the web browser. |

Airborne's directions are correct, but there is a pitfall related to drive "X".
Unless the server's hard disk actually has 20 or so partitions, I have to assume that drive X is a mapped network drive (hard disk shared from another PC). You need to find out which PC has the folder that the X drive points to, use that network address, and the local path for that folder. A mapped network drive only works when a user is actually logged into the PC that is mapping the drive, and most people don't leave a user account logged on to the server. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com |
