Is anyone else having problems with the scanning to smb. I input all info 1. Destination or host 2. path to folde(without the\) 3. user name and password. Still gives a setting error when trying to scan. If you try to set up a folder location on the control panel then hit test it says can not connect. So I tried with a cross over cable to take my network out of the problem and still will not work. Just wanted to see if anyone else is having problems. I have heard lots of rumors this machine is not ready
1: Is the folder you are saving to shared? 2: Is file and print sharing enabled on the PC? 3: Is a firewall blocking unauthorized access to a shared folder?

1.folder is shared with full permissions 2.file and print sharing is enabled 3.windows firewall is disabled and I used a crossover cable to eliminate the possibility of a network firewall
Hmm, it took me a while to figure this one out to. So heres what i did 1. Create eg c:\scans and give full share permissions 2. Make sure domain is entered in Command Centre –advanced TCP/IP 3. In Command Centre –Basic –Address Book –Contacts, Use either host name or IP address, Path = e.g. scans (note no backslash) user name = username@domain.local password = logon password

We just set one up this week in our office. On the path do not put the drive letter. If the path is C:\ scans, just enter scans. if the path is C:\my document\scans then enter only mydocuments\scans

I've had problems setting up muratec's to scan to smb on a domain. In the folder permissions set up there is a security tab make, sure that "allow" is checked in all the blocks there also. HTH.
I just set one up in our showroom and the only way I could get the SMB scanning to work was to have the domain in all caps with a backslash then the login username, e.g. DOMAIN/username. Also I have a concern that the folder has to be shared with full permissions, if your scanning payroll to your workstation, what good is it if everyone can see it? And as far as I've heard the SMB scanning does not work on 2003 Server....yet.

I am curious if any of these problems are on Win 2003 Server w/exchange. I have recently run into a problem where certain services in active directory must be disabled before SMB can work correctly.

As of right now, it will not work with Win 2003 server without creating security problems. Kyocera is working on it and hopefully will have a fix soon. You can scan to FTP without a problem.

Installed our first KM-3050 this morning, and it went pretty well. I could only get the scanning to work using DOMAIN/username as the login, it would not work using username@domain.local. I also fiqured out the folder privacy issue by changing the permissions of the shared folder to only include the user, not everyone. My only beef with the machine is the sllloooowww response of the touch screen, it seems to take forever to respond. And when you change any system defaults it says Please wait,Processing data for about one minute, that's a little slow (Linux), maybe the little Linux pc inside needs an upgrade, maybe some more ram and a faster cpu....

I agree about the lag time when using the control panel, I can hear the complaints coming just around the bend. I'd like to know why they would release a machine like that, I've never seen one act like that before, it does act exactly like a slow computer so maybe upgrading the ram to a gig will help that. It does not make sense to me that all the OP panel functions are being written to the HD as opposed to the RAM unless that fancy spinning disc is just something to take your mind off the wait time. I like the twain scan from the document box feature. The scan to color printer is not an option by looking at the way the colors come out, we used a 5016 in the shop, has anybody tried scanning to another model or an HP, or OKI or something? It looks like you have to upgrade the ram in order to use the full color scan resolution, we have some ordered and I'm looking forward to checking it out with the additoinal ram.
Are the US machines coming out with the firmware pre-upgraded?.We had a new firmware issue on 4th October which improves response of screen amongst other things.
Its still not great but much better and supposedly there is another new firmware due out soon

Airborne: haven't upgraded memory on any of our machines yet. Our latest firmware version is Main 003036/MI 004036/ENG 002005/ SCAN 00200- is this what you have?

I used the scan to color printer to the 5020 and its not real good. Rumor has it if you update to 1 gig it looks better, but just a rumor. I also found these are easier to set up the smb if customer is on a workgroup instread of a domain the user name and passwords aren't as tricky.
Pat, our 3050 in the shop has the same firmwares you listed, I know this is how the machine arrived so they all must come with these versions intalled.
We did install the extra memory and it did not effect control panel response time as far as i could tell. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have enough time to try the scanning to color printer using the full resolution (I hope), I'll report back.
Just an update, with more ram installed and the ability to use the 600X600 resolution for full color print to ftp the print is only marginally better, even adjusting the sharpness had no real effect. The time from scan to print (fs5016) is over three minutes also.
Looks like they have some more work to get this to be a viable option and not just a cute sales pitch.
