Our 5016 is no longer printing multiple copies. In the print dialog box we can set the number of copies, but only one is printed. It worked before, and no one is sure what change caused this.

Thanks for any suggestions!

When this happened to me, installing the ram disk took care of the problem.

Memory is a big issue with the 5016 if you try and set up a ram disk on a stock box you get the problem you speak of. I won't let the sales dept put one out without 256mb upgrade min. I love the way the unit works with 256 mb and a HD-4 hard drive and setting it up with direct print for *.pdf files its pretty impressive when set up that way. hope this helps you out.

We have found the same thing, and have an additional 256mb and a hard drive, so that must not be the problem in this case.

I've seen this problem on other equipment when the hard disk is selected as "installed" in the KX driver. You could try deselecting the hard disk as an installed component and see what happens. Also, I think I remember a setting in the KX driver referring to "ignore application collation". You could try selecting or deselecting that option also. If none of this works, try alternate drivers, like the mini driver or maybe the Generic Adobe Postscript Driver (available from Adobe, all you need is a PPD file for the 5016.

If no hard disk, add extra RAM and turn on RAM disk on the printer and driver. I've had to make the RAMdisk as big as 32MB for some installs that make large multiple prints.

I am not sure if you solved this problem, but at the dealer meeting tech support had a answer,
Increase the "Host Buffer"from 500 and it should solve the problem

Life is good.

Dumb question, but I'm not sure what you're referring to! Confused2

On the Status Page the Host buffer size is 1200 KB.

On the Page Printer Status Page the Interface dependent parameter

Host buffer size (HDD) H0 is 00.
Host buffer size H8 is 12
Buffer size option M3 is 01
Buffer size rate (2) M5 is 05
Buffer size rate (3) M6 is 05
Buffer size rate (5) M8 is 05

Host buffer size rate S5 is 01

Your host buffer needs to be 30% of your total available user memory

Set S5 to 2
Set H8 to {.3 x available user memory}

Or you can read Software Solutions Bulletin #1(or is it 2?). I dunno, it's published info.

An addendum to my above post- base memory ain't gonna cut it with this printer. Max that thing out, and a HD might help out too.

I have a similar problem with a FS-C5016N will not print multiples. Printing 4 sets of 33 page PDF document it does first set only. Try 4 pages and it will print multiple sets, but 10 pages won't. Tried PCL and KPDL using latest KX drivers and differnt settings in driver and Direct PDF print but still cannot get to work correctly.

Seems like a memory issue, but printer has 512MB of memory added and FRPO settings for RAM disk, host buffer etc. have been set. I also tried differnt RAM.

For this you will need to increase the size of the RAM disk, making sure the driver setting for RAM disk matches printer size. Hard disk may also need to be tried out.

REmember, ..when setting frpo buffer settings and any frpo changes the printer must be turned off and on before they stick. Dont change the parameters and try it again or it wont work.

If the above suggestions did not help. I have had units with old firmware on the printer cause the same problem, even when the extra memory and frpo setting were changed.
