Has anyone seen this happen? tried filing down the clip on the toner bottle, and put more tension on it by gently pushing it outward. this does work, but can you depend on a customer doing this? seems like a factory defect to me. also encountered broken clips off housings, expensive to repair.........
Not sure how to answere this problem. Toner cartridge, we've seen no problems. Insert and rotate the lever. Waste toner bottle is a different story. The little release tab gets broken off and then it won't stay put. Most customers opt not to fix. They just tape the side door shut. I am curious though, why this question was posted under make the connection.

sorry there copy guy, new member, to be more specific it was the toner waste bottle. I have now serviced a call with the pink clip broken off that holds the bottle in. have to order the whole housing, $125.00 smackeroos! are these bottles defective??
The waste bottles are fine. It's the tab that breaks off of the housing when the key op doesn't push the tab over prior to pulling out the waste bottle. There is labor and the part cost to consider on this repair. Our customers have opted to put tape on the cover to keep the waste bottle in place and to keep the door closed. ------------------------------------------------ Good luck and may the schwartz be with you.

I have used the SRDF-2 self adhesive shims in the past for this. We ordered a bunch of these when the tech bulletin came out (original size detection problem). I stuck the shim on the door so that the door actually held the bottle in place.
wile e. cayote & copy guy, i have the same problem on a new 5025. Different bottles keep popping out and message appears on screen. This is happening in a customer who has just bought 10 of these so sticking something inside the door isn't going to instill any confidence with this model. Any thoughts as to why this may be happening? From what i've seen the clip on the bottle isn't up to the task, it doesn't have enough pressure to hold itself in, or the silver plate on the cleaning unit is too strong?
A sure cure for sea sickness is to sit under a tree.
Yes, I see you've noticed the flaw on the bottle. The mfg. needs to modify the cut and angle on the clip of the bottle. Spring tension is okay, I've been filing a better edge on the clip so the thing doesn't slip out. But until kyoc. realizes this, we'll just have to deal with the issue.
They modified the bottle because customers where taking them out without pushing the tab, thus, breaking the plastic mount that hold it in. The old bottles had a 90 deg catch (FSC5016). They modified this to be on an angle to avoid breaking the mount. The plastic mount that holds the bottle in is part of a much bigger assy. I think it is the HV assy bracket. It is an expensive part.
I have yet to have an issue with the new style. One customer put a piece of cardboard between the bottle and the door and it works fine for him (pay customer).
As Wile posted, you could try to modify the catch on the bottle with a file, change the angle on the catch.
Keep us posted.
