Here it is , have 6030 w/print system customer called the other day with the following error F020.(Could not locate error in the service manual)Went out updated all firmware (mach, print , and finisher)Reseated ram , dimm, and print system.Reconnected to the network jobs printing fine. Just received another call same code returned, will be taking out another 128 ram to install.Has anyone else come across this issue? Or may have a direction to lead me away from this headache and as to why it's reoccurring . Thanks

I have only come across this error on a FS-8000C and single FS-C5016N in the past. The 8000C was pulled out of the field due to reoccurring F020 errors, was never fixed.

The FS-8000C manual calls this an expansion memory problem, and says to replace the memory DIMM or replace the defective print controller PWB. I remember the 5016 manual giving the same directions.

Don't overlook cleaning all the dust bunnies out of the filters for the cooling fans. This could be a heat issue for the print system.

It is also possible that the ram slot itself is bad, I have seen this on laptops when the ram is pushed in incorrectly, can cause solder joints to crack or crack the motherboard.

Thanks for the responses, I did clean the fan filters and removed the memory dimm from this machine it has a hard drives shouldn't run into any slow print issues, so we see if the error returns. Will keep you in the loop

actually you're better off leaving the memory in (except in your case for the errors) as writing data to a HD for printing is way slower than using ram. Large jobs can be spooled to the HD of course but I/O times for ram is faster.

Hopefully it was a bad dimm and not a bad slot on the p.c.b..Waiting for a new one. Will find out when it gets installed .They usually run big jobs on this unit and shouldn't notice any problems with slow prints, they have the unit in the other room so by the time they get up to get their jobs it should be printed. Thanks for the input. I agree with Airbourne ram being quicker
