Does anyone know if SMB scanning is possible on Falcon II machines? I've seen it on the 6030/8030 machines.

I believe the Scanner File Utility will allow SMB scanning.

You won't see SMB as an option for Falcon II series, even with all firmware up to date. Along the way, a firmware update did add FTP scanning, which must be activated in simulation to use it.

You can do SMB scans with KM-6030/8030 and also the Voyager series color machines, but that was never added to the Falcon II's.

You should also know SMB scanning from the Voyagers is limited to only 10 desinations.

Other than turning the ftp option, what else needs to be done to use FTP with the utility?

If you are using the Scanner File Utility, FTP is setup is not needed. It will use File Transfer Protocol to communicate between the utility and the copier, but you don't need to set anything up other than the ordinary Scan to PC stuff. Just have to install the utility, configure the utility with a folder to save to and a unique reference number for each folder (if saving to more than one location on a single PC).

FTP scanning requires that a FTP server be setup on a PC (if you don't know how to do that, I'm not covering it here). If a server is running, you need to enter a valid username, password, and path as well as the server's network address. Simple as that.
