Anybody else have issues where they SFU works fine at initial install, but seems to just stop transmitting PDF format files
a few days later. Just installed a new TA-3050ci. Installed the latest version of the SFU and had it set up and running
fine scanning PDFs from the copier to the PCs with the FTP protocol utilized in the address book. A few days later the PDFs
just seem to dissappear. The Originals Ones we scanned at set up where still in the destination folder, but if you try to
scan now with the SFU, they just don't ever arrive at the destination folder. No Transmission error is given at the copier
either. Anybody have any ideas on what's going on?

Any anti-virus software? Could it be quarantining those files? Maybe it updated.

Try using SMB scanning...SFU don't seem to work well with Windows 7. We had this exact issue, changed to SMB and everything
works fine now.

The Problem With SMB Is That The Customers Usually Are Required To Change Their Passwords On Their PCs Every 60 or 90 Days
Then Scanning Quits Working Again Because They Forget To Or Forget How To Change The Passwords On The Copier.

Ask IT to set up a login that will not require automatic updates. They can do this. It's used all the time on admin passwords.

I've found that the SFU is normally a quicker option without having to worry about users, permissions, passwords and sharing.
Its a shame there seems to be a few bugs in the latest version. Anyone have a later version than 4.11.02? |

Streamlined (and preferably end user installable) scanning has always been a weakness of KM.
While SMB scanning certainly needs to be there as an option, a better SFU that automatically creates at least a Windows Firewall exception and self registers with MFP's is LONG overdue, not to mention front end functionality augmentation, like automatically opening the users' default email program and attaching the scan, OCR'ing etc. When SMB is the primary option and SFU is a very limited second option this doesn't make the product user friendly and end user perception (especially if they've used something that does have more functionality) is that the product is less advanced (or stupid). SFU needs to be significantly beefed up to compliment the product offerings. Relax? When?! |

I have to agree with you Scotty 100%! I don't think it would be a hard thing to do either.

I thought the SFU no longer worked with the latest machines? Isn't the File Management Utility (FMU) supposed to be used
now?

there was a Webinar a wile back, that showed how to setup SFU on newer Models under FTP, you use
Hostmame- Port 21-and Path 1 as Detination.when installing the File Utility you configure as 001 and create a Scans folder. you can find the Webinar KDAConnect Mar.23rd 2010 P.S. did somebody heard about the new PinPointScan Option (HyPas)it was posted yesterday, but no Package file or executble was online? |

I was talking about PinPoint Scan with another tech yesterday. Seems pretty good, but at near $100 per machine we'll probably
go another route.
