Hi Everyone
I have a 2530 and am trying to scan via SFU to a Vista Pc connected to a network via a wirless card. I keep getting a Com error message. I have tried the following. Made sure that the PC was running in Admin mode and loaded the program as admin. Added the SFU and port 37100 to exceptions in Win firewall. I looked for other fire walls but could not find any.Yes I can ping and connect to the scanner card. I have no problems printing . I connected several XP'S with no problem. WHAT am I missing???????????????? Thanks for the help! |

Try pinging the PC from another PC, no reply would suggest an anti-virus program running or something administratively disabled.

Vista can be tricky about write permissions - it doesn't like files to be written to the root of 'C' for example. I'd suggest trying something like 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\Scans' at least while you're testing.
However; if I recall correctly a write permission problem should probably say something like "Problem with Destination Folder" on the touch screen. Are you running SFU in Service mode or Desktop mode? What version of SFU are you using? Relax? When?! |

Hi All.
The 2530 is hard wired. I am using SFU ver 4.10.01,during set up it does not give you a choice what mode to run it in. I don't think its a folder problem because that would still allow you to comm with the PC. Like the idea of pinging the PC from another PC. Thanks for the help. |

Good question, I don,t remember. Can you give me the settings for both versions? I am sure I will run into this again.
Thanks |

I'll toss a ball in from the stands. Kyocera's PrintQ Secure Print client software is not compatible with Scanner File Utility running on the same PC. If this has been installed on this PC and forgotten about, you get about what you describe. This is documented in the readme file associated with PrintQ. PrintQ will give a warning if being installed on a PC with SFU running, but installing SFU on a machine with PrintQ gives no error.
Also consider that Vista has TCP/IP ver 4 and 6, WinXP is IP ver 4. In a small peer network with a mixed operating system environment, I've had to disable IP ver 6 on the odd Vista PC to force things into working before. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com |

Hi All.
This is getting bad. Now I am trying to install SMB scanning for a C3225 on a 64 bit win 7 and Vista 64 bit. On the Vista I added the exceptions to Ms and AVG ..MS is off. I was able to send one scanned file subsequent scanns produce a comm error. On the Win 7 I am getting "incorrect setting of destination folder".I checked all the folder setting and they match. The scanned docs are going to the F drive not C(must be on f drive per cus) , could this be a problem. Tech support has been unable to help me .I wonder if their is an inherent problem with Vista and Wiin 7? Yes I installed SMB as Adm. I am using the ver 4.10.01 I sucessfully installed SMB on several Xp PC. What I am missing. P.S I have not returned to my first problem. |

To scan to a mapped drive (C drive you can hold in your hand, F is not "real"), SFU must be installed in the desktop mode. I know some versions don't ask you, so find an older one.

Destination folder errors indicate a write permission error (or a mapped drive that can't either be reached or written to).
We need more information here. You have now indicated this is an external hard drive - what does that mean to you? Is it attached physically to the computer you are setting up SFU on or is a a SAN device of some sort? If it's a SAN (Network) device there's a good probability you will have problems IF you can get it to work at all. If it's USB or Firewire it shouldn't be a problem as long as your permissions are set correctly. Easiest permissions test would be to create a folder under 'c:\users\public\public documents\scans' and point SFU at that folder. It should work there without changing any permissions (unless someone's already mucked around in there changing things). My rule of thumb is to always do what you know works, then see if you can do what the customer wants after you know it works. Relax? When?! |

The hard drive is an external USB with an f designation. The confusing part is that they were scanning to this drive without a problem.I checked all permissions and folder designations and they have not changed.
Thanks. |

Try increasing the HDD capacity warning to 99%. It's in the SFU config window.

Try using the 4.10.00 SFU. I've had some problems on different newer PCs trying to install and scan to using the 4.10.01 so I tried the 4.10.00 and everything worked fine.

Great suggestion. It's important to remember as drive sizes increase percentages become a lot more space here. A 1TB drive could have 100 Gigs free and still be treated as 'Full' if SFU is set to 10%!!! Relax? When?! |
