Is there a way to program the multi purpose tray(or any cassette for that matter) to print anything that a computer sends to it. no matter if its an envelope or odd sized paper or standard paper or whatever. I just want it to print to whatever paper is in there. Instead of showing print error and asking you to load a certain paper size or type in the print screen. I have a couple customers that just cant handle hitting that print button to see whats wrong or programming the mpt tray to be a certain size or type. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

U341 sets a specific feed location for printing only. I'm not sure how it deals with paper size mismatches though.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd. |

Catch me if you can! |
The closest I can think to do here is set the print driver to use PCL 5 and set the MPT to Universal size. It still will prompt for the correct size paper to be loaded though.
PCL5 does not match paper types, but does attempt to match paper size and source specified in the driver.PCL XL and KPDL will attempt to match the paper type with the driver setting. The catch here is that the copier will always prompt for the correct paper size to be loaded if it is not defined as a size that matches the print job. I cannot think of a way to do exactly what you want. In extreme cases, I've gone to the point of setting up multiple print drivers (or multiple profiles in one KX driver) that issued the prescribe commands to change the MPT's paper size and paper type settings in the Epilogue/Prologue tab. That way it becomes a matter of selecting the correct driver, and it will pull the paper without further prompts. If you user is too lazy/dumb to push a button on the panel to continue printing, then this solution will be over their head also. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com |

This has always been a problem. The Kyocera products really want to know what's in there - both for maximum speed capability and cleanliness.
I don't really think the cleanliness issue makes a huge difference and I know my customers would be OK with the speed being significantly slower in exchange for ease of use. The way I have always thought it should work is that 'Universal' should effectively be blindly printed as the maximum page size (or whatever specific size is requested by the driver) on the first page (and treated as heavy stock / half speed) and subsequent pages of the same job printed based on paper length detected from the first sheet. I believe that's basically what HP does. Relax? When?! |
