Prescribe commands embedded in Word docs execute correctly but are ignored in docs created by mailmerge

E.G. Mailmerge template contains !R! PSRC 2;EXIT;

After the mail merge has been processed, is the prescribe code in the word doc still in the Presribe font? Maybe its re-formatting the entire document with a different font.
