The print and scan ip addresses can be looked at in the web browser but when you go to print the machine will not print until you manually push the start button at the machine.Scanning will not work no matter which method. When using a laptop to print or scan direct without the network being used the same thing happens. Sim 906 and sim 504 made no difference. The unfortunate part is the customer is 300 miles away and I am having a computer tech part looking over the problem.I am thinking since both nic cards are failing to work correctly that the main engine pcb is failing. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. I don't think firmware is the cause but I have been wrong before. Thanks ED

It sounds like maybe the print part is set to print from the bypass, in which case you have to walk to the machine and hit Go or Start. The scan issue probably is a firewall. Most firewalls will let you see from the computer to the device but will block the communication from the device to the computer unless you set the permissions. Just a couple of ideas, hope this helps.

Thanks for the input but I expect an onsite visit in the new year. I will advise final resolution. ED

"When using a laptop to print or scan direct without the network being used the same thing happens." Are you using a crossover cable to test this or your own known good switch? Did this installation ever work before? If so, what has changed on the network (ie:switches, router, firewall, ISP) Frequently customer's don't put two and two together - somebody changes something and everything else works but nobody scans for a couple of days. Now they think it's your problem because everything else is working. Some customer's will hold their ground that nothing's changed until you prove the equipment works - then they fess up... Relax? When?!

As it turns out the main engine pcb is faulty. I was able to duplicate the problem at my office. I can go direct with a laptop either with a switch or direct with an rj45 cable or crossover cable to test scan and print. Thanks Ed
