We have set up many KM2560 for scanning. BUT we are having a bad time setting up a new KM2560 for email. Error 3101 is coming up. We have the April 2010 Firmware installed. Any suggestions.
What email provider are they using. If it's something like GoDaddy, Gmail or some other Web Hosting email provider, you are going to have to get in touch with the person who set this up for them. Check the port that the SMTP server is set up to use for outgoing mail. Make sure it is using the correct login credentials if it is SMTP authentication. Seems like some SMTP servers are being set up on different ports lately for security reasons.
I think it has something to do with the firmware, we have about 40 of these at one account and they are all set up the same. Installed a new one with new firmware and it will not connect, the error is a 3101. I thought about trying to downgrade the firmware, but it has a fax system on it.
I got it working, but I don't know why. On every other machine in that building I used a generic e-mail address for the sender ie. admin@wherever.com, for this one I had to create a new valid e-mail account.
