Printing PDF files in general..

Hi All
I am trying to better understand how many pages a print job can be without running into errors either at the computer or the KM-Product.
If I am just using Acrobat Reader latest version
can I send 100-400 page document? In this case a fully loaded KM-2550 maximum memory and ramdisk on set to 80MB. The job appears to hit the m/c and sometimes you get the failed to print screen at the computer and yet the machine is still printing and the job may or may not complete.
Other times adobe indicates it has to close and the job doesn't complete.
I have tried different emulations with similar results. Static IP on the machine. Network environment seems stable.
Any general rules or tips greatly appreciated.

Up until now I haven't really had to deal with specific printing out of documents. Perhaps its just Kyocera products as I know printing to just a HP or Lexmark printers seems to be just fine. Only the driver is the factor as far as I can tell. I am always wanting to learn more.

PS I have noticed this issue on other KM-models.
Windows XP Pro with all the updates is the OS and Kyocera KX latest driver

Thanks as always.
ED

Ed, i honestly have not seen that error using adobe, there are some things i have learned from past experience and I will share them with you. Sometimes it helps to update the adobe reader program and the firmware of the machine and of course the print driver itself. I've also seen strange issues when companies receive emailed pdfs and try to print them, also if they are created in older adobe versions.

Something you can try to troubleshoot the computer msg is to go to control panel>admin tools>event viewer> applications> look to see if there are any events noted with a red mark and double click and read the box for clues of the error msg. Do the same thing but select "system" and look for events there also. Sometimes you can open the print folder and watch the job being sent the file size is listed and you can watch it spool up, it may give an indication of when the error pops up i.e. during the spool or after.

Hope something here will help.

I have had this type of error before. It seems to be related to ram disk on large jobs. If you have a Hard drive for that machine give it a try and see if that helps.

Often, not using a driver at all works well for pdfs.

Thanks all
I do not have a hard drive and I am going to boost the ram disk at least to 160MB. Also I am trying the drag and drop utility for the pdf files.I am sure that I have covered off all the things to be tried for this project.I did more testing today and so far so good
Thanks

I was thinking more for troubleshooting purposes. Direct print utility, web page or IC-Link
