We have a customer with 2 falcon 3s and a minolta C352. when scanning to a color 200dpi pdf at the standard level 1 compression, you get a 200kb file or so that looks horrible. They have black and white pages with red pen notations. All around the red pen notations it has a rainbow effect. I scanned the same thing in at level 5 compression and ended up with a much better quality but it was 700kb. My problem is that they have alot of file cabinets that they want to scan and backfile. Their C352 scans at 300dpi color compact pdf and looks better than the Falcon 3 level 5 and only consists of 100kb. any thoughts and/or experiences?
Has the optional PDF high-compression been unlocked with the USB key? I understand that you get a fixed 30 day trial (or fixed number of trial scans) of the high-compression without the feature being unlocked.

No. A very tiny PCB must be physically installed. The Falcon III machines have the ability in firmware, but has to be unlocked with a program on a USB key, thus the ability to have a trial period.
